Tell us a bit about your story, did you always want to be a model?
I was scouted by an agent when I was 14 in Alaska and have been modeling ever since. My career kicked off when I moved to NYC and signed with one of the top model agencies in the world.
Why did you choose to pursue a career as a model?
I didn't really, it chose me. I'm an entrepreneur and love taking new opportunities and growing from the experience.
What do you enjoy most about modelling?
I love the network you can build in the model industry. You meet so many incredible people from all walks of life who all have something you can learn from.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I see a lot of new models being taken advantage of. No one really teaches you how to model, they tell you what to do and models do it without question. The industry is a very selfish environment, so unfortunately a lot of agents don't have the model's best interest. I hope to create a model agency that changes the game and educate the new "aspiring models" right from wrong in the industry.
What would be your dream shoot set up?
I wouldn't really say I have a "dream shoot" but i enjoy shoots where i can transform where i am in a character to represent an image that isn't my own. For example, editorials with wild clothes and dramatic hair and make-up versus regular glamour shots that looks like any other pretty girl.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Some of the highest paid models aren't as beautiful as some others. The reason they are constantly booked despite their imperfections is because people WANt to work with them. Looks are important, but your personality is a deal breaker.
Do you have any tips for people who want to start in the modelling industry?
IT'S OKAY TO SAY NO!
